Dede Johnston grew up in northern Vermont near the Canadian border where she developed an early passion for snow-laden alpine landscapes, which remain an important theme in her photographic work.
She earned a degree in Art History from Middlebury College in Vermont and was employed by Sotheby’s in New York City.
Following a career in the decorative arts, in 2001 Johnston began studying photography at The Black and White School of Photography, London. She has had solo exhibitions in London (2006), Kitzbuhel, Austria (2007-2008) and Verbier, Switzerland (2014).
Since 2010 she has exhibited at the London Art Fair with TAG Fine Arts and since 2013 she has been invited to participate in group shows at Eleven Gallery (London) and to show with them at Photo London 2015 and 2016.
Johnston’s photographic work has appeared in several magazines and online publications, most recently in LensCulture. One of her recent photographs was selected by Humble Arts Foundation for their online exhibition "Winter Pictures".
