There is a heavy and pervasive silence in the arctic. With no roads on the polar icecap to connect towns in Greenland, boats move quietly along the coast. There are no trees to soften the harsh environment, just a scattering of brightly coloured houses. Few inhabitants and some hardy, proud Inuits move calmly, with purpose. Although the landscape is frozen in time, the silence is foreboding of change.
